1. How do I know if I’m eligible to join Millstream Area Credit Union?

Anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Hancock, Allen, Hardin, Putnam, Seneca or Wood counties is eligible to join Millstream. Family members of  anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in one of the above counties are also eligible to join.  Click here to join now.

2. What is a credit union?

A credit union is a financial cooperative. Unlike banks, we are not for profit. Instead we return earnings to our members in the form of lower loan rates and higher deposit rates.

3. How do I apply for membership at Millstream Area Credit Union?

You may apply for membership using on our online application. The application is quick and easy, providing step by step instructions. It will only take about 10 minutes to complete. You may also visit one of our convenient locations to open your membership. Click here to find our locations and hours.

4. Can I still be a member if I move or change jobs?

Yes, once you are a member of Millstream Area Credit Union, you are a member for life regardless of where you live or work.

5. Can my family members join?

Yes, once you become a member your family members are eligible to join. They are also eligible if they live, work, worship or attend school in Hancock, Allen, Hardin, Putnam, Seneca or Wood counties.

As a member you are eligible for all the services provided by Millstream Area Credit Union. We are a full-service financial institution offering deposit products, loans, electronic services and more.

1. What is your Routing & Transit Number?

Our Routing and Transit Number is 241278662. This can be used for direct deposit/withdrawals but is not correct for wire transfers. If you are looking for wire transfer information please select question number 8, “What information do I need to send/receive a wire transfer?”

7. What is a PIN?

A PIN is a Personal Identification Number used to secure electronic and card transactions.

8. What information do I need to send/receive a wire transfer?

There is a $15 fee for outgoing wire transfers and a $5 fee for incoming transfers within the U.S. There is a $35 fee for outgoing or incoming international wire transfers.

9. What other options do I have for sending/receiving funds to/from another financial institution?

You may also send funds electronically via ACH Origination. These transactions happen much like direct withdrawals/deposits. However, these transactions are not “same day” transactions. Generally there is a two day waiting period to receive funds with these types of transactions. ACH Origination has the capability to be a reoccurring transaction or a one time transaction. There is not currently a fee for ACH Originations.

10. What information do I need to send someone money through an ACH origination?

  • The name of the financial institution
  • The routing number
  • The account number to be credited
  • The type of account – savings, checking, loan, etc.
  • The amount
  • How often you’d like it sent/received
  • Which subaccount would you like us to debit the money from

11. What information do I need to give someone so that I can electronically pay a bill using a Millstream Account?

12. Do you offer prepaid or gift cards?

Yes, the credit union offers prepaid VISA gift cards. The cards are available in denominations ranging from $25 to $1,000. There is a $5 service charge for each card and the cards can not be reloaded with funds.

Checking Accounts & Products

1. What types of checking accounts do you offer?

We offer three types of checking accounts:

2. How do I open a checking account?

You may contact the credit union at 419-422-5626 or visit one of our convenient locations to setup your checking account. If you are not currently a member at Millstream Area Credit Union, you may fill out an application for membership by clicking here.

3. Can I have multiple checking accounts?

Yes, you may open more than one checking account.

4. Can I setup a joint checking account? How?

Yes, you can setup a joint checking account. In order to have a joint account, both account holders must be members of the credit union. Contact the credit union at 419-422-5626 or visit one of our convenient locations to setup your account today.

5. Do you offer direct deposit?

Yes, we do offer direct deposit. Our routing and transit number is 241278662.

6. How do I setup direct deposit?

You’ll need to contact your employer to setup direct deposit. You will need to provide them with our routing and transit number (241278662) and your Millstream Area Credit Union account number.

7. What is payroll deduction?

Payroll deduction allows you to deposit a specific amount of your paycheck into your credit union account. For example, you may wish to deposit $100 of each paycheck into your share savings account.

8. How do I setup payroll deduction?

If your employer offers payroll deduction, you will need to provide them with the Millstream routing and transit number (241278662) along with the account number where you would like the funds deposited and the amount you would like to have automatically deposited from each paycheck. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the credit union at 419-422-5626.

9. Are there any fees for your checking accounts?

There are no fees for our Fee Free and Teen Checking accounts. The Cruisin 55 Checking account is free unless your balance falls below the minimum balance requirement of $500. If the account falls below this level, you will be assessed a $5.00 monthly service fee.

10. Are there any minimum balance requirements for your checking accounts?

The Fee Free Checking does not have a minimum balance. The Teen checking account requires a minimum balance of $100 in your savings account to cover any overdrafts. Cruisin 55 checking has a minimum balance requirement of $500.

11. What is Courtesy Pay?

Courtesy Pay is an overdraft protection services that Millstream Area Credit Union offers for all checking accounts. We will pay items up to a $500 negative balance to help you avoid the embarrassment of bounced checks and returned check fees.

12. Do you offer overdraft protection?

Yes, we offer both an Overdraft Savings account and an Overdraft Line of Credit. Click here to learn more.

13. Do you offer check cards?

Yes, we do offer check cards for our checking accounts.

14. How do I reset my check card PIN?

You may reset the ATM PIN at the ATM if you know the current PIN by selecting additional functions on the main screen. If you do not know the PIN you must contact the credit union to have it reset.

15. Should I push debit or credit for my transactions?

You should always push credit when using your check card to pay for transactions. By pushing credit you have the added security of the VISA network and you also protect your PIN from being stolen.

16. Can I use my check card at non-Millstream ATMs?

Yes, you can use your check card at non-Millstream ATMs. Millstream participates in the Alliance One and MoneyPass free ATM networks. Click here to access the Alliance One online search or click here to access the MoneyPass online search to find a surcharge free ATM near you. Please be aware that the credit union charges $1 for foreign ATM transactions. The ATMs will not charge you but you will still receive a $1 fee from the credit union.

17. Where can I find a free ATM?

Savings & Investment Products

1. What is a share in the credit union?

Your share in the credit union makes you a member-owner of the credit union. We are a not for profit financial cooperative. We return our earning to our members in the form of better rates. As a member-owner you have voting rights to help guide the future of the credit union.

2. Is there a minimum amount I must keep in my share savings account?

Yes, you must keep a minimum balance of $5 in your share savings account or $10 in your joint member savings at all times.

3. Do you offer different types of savings accounts?

Yes, in addition to our share savings account we also offer Senior Savings, Payment Savings, Special Savings and Club Accounts. To learn more about our savings accounts, click here.

4. What types of investment products do you offer?

Millstream Area Credit Union offers Share Certificates, Money Market Accounts and Individual Retirement Accounts. In addition, the credit union also offers investment services. Please contact Gary Forry at (740) 465-7121 or gforry1@verizon.net to schedule an appointment.

5. What terms do you offer for share certificates?

We offer share certificate terms ranging from 3 months to 60 months (5 years).

6. What is the minimum balance to open a share certificate?

The minimum balance to open a share certificate is $500 for adults. We also offer minor (youth) certificates with a minimum balance to open of $250.00.

7. What are your share certificate rates?

8. What’s the withdrawal penalty for your share certificates?

For all certificate accounts, the amount of the early withdrawal penalty is based on the term of your account. The penalty schedule is:

  • Terms of less than 12 months – 90 days dividends forfeiture
  • Terms of 12 months or greater – 180 days dividends forfeiture

9. Do you offer kids share certificates?

Yes, we do offer minor share certificates. The opening balance for minor share certificates is $250.

10. Do you offer tiered rates for share certificates?

Yes, we offer two tiers for our share certificates to help you earn more the more you save; $500 and $5,000.

11. Do you offer Money Market Accounts?

Yes, we currently offer seven money market account tiers. Click here for our current rates.

12. What is the minimum balance to open a money market account?

There is no minimum balance to open a money market account; however, you must have a minimum balance of $2500 to begin earning interest.

13. What are the withdraw limits for Money Market Accounts?

You may make up to six withdrawals per month.

14. Is there a limit or minimum on the amount of a withdrawal from a money market account?

The minimum withdrawal amount is $500.

15. How do I access the funds in my money market account?

You may make transfers using online banking, make cash withdrawals at our branches, or make check requests.

16. Are there fees for money market account transactions?

There are no fees for money market transactions unless you exceed the six allowed per month. Each additional transaction is $5.

17. What are club accounts?

Millstream Area Credit Union offers two club accounts – Christmas Club and Vacation Club. These accounts allow you to save for the holidays and special travel plans.

18. Can I withdraw Christmas Club funds before the annual distribution date?

You may withdraw Christmas Club funds before the annual distribution on November 1st, but you must pay an early withdrawal fee of $5.

19. What is an Individual Retirement Account?

An Individual Retirement Account or IRA is a tax-deferred retirement savings account that lets you build your retirement.

20. How does an IRA work?

An IRA lets you make annual tax-deferred contributions to your retirement plan. These tax-deferred savings earn interest building your retirement savings.

21. What are the different types of IRAs?

There are three types of IRAs including: Traditional,

22. Who is eligible to open an IRA?

Anyone who receives taxable compensation or a self-employed income is eligible for an IRA. For a Traditional IRA, the person must be under the age of 70 ½ by the end of the year they are applying. For a Roth IRA, you can contribute at any age; however contribution allowances depend on marital status and income.

Educational IRAs are available for children under the age of 18 and all contributions must end when the child turns 18.

23. How do I open a Millstream IRA?

Opening your Millstream IRA is easy. Simply visit one of our convenient locations or give us a call at 419-422-5626 to get started today.

24. Can I borrow money from my IRA?

No, you cannot borrow money from your IRA.

25. When/How can I get money from my IRA?

This depends on a number of things such as your age, the type of IRA, and IRS IRA regulations. Currently Roth IRAs may begin distributions at the age of 59 ½ or if they’ve met the five year rule. Traditional IRAs may begin distributions at the age of 59 ½, but must at least take yearly distributions at the age of 70 ½. For specific details in regards to your MACU IRA, please contact the credit union. If your IRA is not currently at Millstream, please contact a financial planner or tax advisor.

Educational IRA funds must be used for educational expenses or they are considered taxable income and are subject to penalties. Qualifying expenses include tuition, books, fees, supplies, etc. All distributions must be made by the time the beneficiary turns 30 years old. If the funds have not been used by this time, the account may be rolled over to another child in the same family.

26. What is an IRA savings account? How is it different from an IRA CD?

An IRA savings account pays a lower percentage of interest, but funds are not tied into a long-term investment.

Auto Loans

1. Do I have to be a member to apply for an auto loan?

No, you may apply regardless of membership; however, upon approval and prior to loan proceeds being disbursed you must open a membership with the credit union.

2. What terms do you offer for auto loans?

7. Is there an early payment penalty?

No, there is no pre-payment penalty for auto loans.

8. What is GAP insurance?

GAP insurance provides you with added protection should your vehicle be totaled or stolen. GAP insurance pays the difference between what your auto insurance company will give you to pay off your loan and what you actually still owe on the vehicle.

9. Do you finance other vehicles like motorcycles or RVs?

Yes, in addition to auto loans, we also finance motorcycles, RVs and boats.

10. Can I get pre-approved for a loan? What are the benefits of being pre-approved?

Yes, we are happy to help you get pre-approved for a loan. By being pre-approved you know exactly how much are you approved to borrow before you shop, plus when you find the perfect car the financing is already in place making the purchase quick and easy.

Home Equity Loans

1. Do you offer home equity loans and lines of credit?

Yes, Millstream Area Credit Union offers both home equity loans and home equity lines of credit.

2. What’s the difference between a home equity loan and a home equity line of credit?

A home equity loan offers a one time payout. Each month you have a fixed payment for the loan much like an auto loan. With a home equity line of credit, you receive a revolving line of credit similar to a credit card. As you pay down your advances, you can borrow again and again as needed.

3. What are the advantages of a home equity loan or line of credit?

Home equity loans and lines of credit can help you cover a wide range of expenses. A common misconception is that a home equity loan must be used to make improvements on your house, but that is not the case. You can use your loan for virtually any expense including debt consolidation, college tuition and more.

4. How do I know if I have enough equity in my home to qualify for a home equity loan?

Millstream Area Credit Union is currently able to lend up to 80% Loan to Value. This means that we can loan up to 80% of a home’s value, minus the first mortgage amount. To figure out exactly how much that would be, take your home value and multiply times 0.80; subtract the first mortgage amount from that. The remainder would be the amount eligible for a Millstream Area Credit Union Home Equity Loan.

If you do not know your home’s value, you will need an appraisal to find out. For help with an appraisal and to apply for your home equity loan, please contact the credit union at 419.422.5626.

Millstream Area Credit Union offers VISA Classic and VISA Platinum credit cards.

Both our VISA Classic and VISA Platinum cards have a 25 day grace period for purchases.

4. How do I apply for a Millstream credit card?

5. Is there an annual fee?

No, both the VISA Classic and VISA Platinum cards do not carry any annual fees.

6. What credit limits do you offer?

The credit limit for our VISA Classic card is up to $10,000. The credit limit for our VISA Platinum card is up to $15,000.

7. What are your credit card fees?

Mortgages

1. Do you offer mortgages?

Yes, Millstream Area Credit Union offers mortgages through our partnership with MyCUMortgage, which enables us to offer our members a wide variety of products at competative rates.

Other Loans

1. What can a signature loan be used for?

A signature loan is an unsecured loan that allows you to finance small purchases or consolidate payments.

2. What can a signature loan be used for?

A signature loan can be used to consolidate debit, personal expenses or finance small purchases.

3. How much can I borrow with a signature loan?

You may borrow up to $5,000 with a signature loan.

4. Do you offer student loans?

No, due to changes in the Federal Loan Program, Millstream is not able to offer student loans..

5. What are the different types of student loans? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each type of student loan?

Both students and parents can apply for student loans. The loan option for students is the Federal Stafford Loan. With this loan students have a grace period while they are in college and do not have to start paying back the loan until they graduate. The loan option for parents is the PLUS Loan.  This loan allows parents to borrow to help their student pay for college, but they must start making payments on the loan immediately with no grace period.

6. What are share secured loans?

Share secured loans allow you to use your savings as collateral for your loan. You’ll continue earning interest on your savings while receiving a low loan rate.

7. How much can I borrow with a share secured loan?

The allowable amount is dependent upon the amount you have in savings. You may use all but the $5.00 required savings balance as collateral. We also offer share certificate secured loans, which allow you to borrow up to 80% of the certificate’s value.

Electronic Services

1. What is M.A.R.S.?

Millstream Audio Response System (also known as M.A.R.S.) is a 24/7 telephone access line. You can get account and loan balances, do Visa credit card and account transaction inquiries, hot card status a check/ATM card as lost or stolen, get dividends and interest, perform account transfers and more. To get login information contact the credit union at 419-422-5626.

2. What is the phone number for M.A.R.S.?

The phone number for M.A.R.S. Is (419) 423-2766.

3. How do I get my M.A.R.S. login information?

If you do not have your M.A.R.S. login information, please contact the credit union at 419-422-5626.

4. How do I change my M.A.R.S. PIN?

You may change your PIN by following the system prompts when calling M.A.R.S. If you do not know your current PIN, please contact the credit union at 419-422-5626.

5. How do I sign-up for online banking?

You may sign-up for online banking by calling the Credit Union or stopping in to either branch location.

6. How do I access the online banking site?

You may access the Online Banking site from our home page.

7. How do I get my online banking PIN?

If you are currently signed up for online banking and have forgotten your PIN or Password, you can click on a link that says “Forgot your Password” on the Home Page. If you do not currently have online banking access and are attempting to set it up you can also click a link on the Home Page which states ”Sign up for online banking.” If you still have trouble after trying one of those options, please contact a credit union representative for assistance at 419-422-5626.

8. I forgot my password. How do I reset my password for online banking?

If you are currently signed up for online banking and have forgotten your password, please contact a credit union representative for assistance at 419-422-5626.

9. What can I do with Millstream online banking?

You can use online banking to view your account balances, transfer funds between accounts, make loan payments, view your e-statement, pay bills and more.

10. Can I view all my accounts in online banking?

Yes, you can view all your accounts in online banking.

11. How do I setup web bill pay?

In order to use Millstream Area Credit Union’s Web Bill Pay Service you must have online banking access and an active checking account. Once logged in to online banking you will see the word “bills” in the navigation pane on the left hand side of the screen. Clicking on this word will automatically start the enrollment process for Web Bill Pay.

12. How do I setup a new payee using web bill pay?

At the top of the Web Bill Pay page is a row of options. Click on the option which says “Add a Bill.” Follow the next steps through the process of adding a bill by answering the questions as completely as possible.

13. How do I schedule a payment using web bill pay?

Because our Web Bill Pay Service is so versatile you may schedule payments different ways. Before scheduling any payments you must “Add a Bill” to your web bill pay. Once the bill is added, you may click on the box next to the biller name from the Payment Center screen and then select a date to pay said item. This option is a one time bill payment. If you would like to schedule a recurring payment then you must click on “Manage My Bill,” select the biller from the drop down options and follow the steps.

14. Can I setup automatic payments or transfers using web bill pay?

Yes, you can select to setup one time payments and transfers or setup recurring automatic payments and transfers using web bill pay.

15. How do I setup automatic payments and transfers using web bill pay?

If you would like to schedule a recurring payment using web bill pay then you must click on “Manage My Bills,” select the biller from the drop down options and follow the steps.

You need not enter Web Bill Pay to setup automatic transfers between Millstream Area Credit Union Accounts. From your online banking Summary Screen you will see the words “Move $” to the left in the navigation pane, click on it. From there you will click on “Simple Transfer” and a screen comes up to ask where you are transferring from and where you’d like to transfer to, as well as the amount. Below the box to select an amount are the words “Now” and “Later” with radial buttons in front of them. Choose the later button and select when you would like the transfers to begin and at what frequency you would like them to happen.

16. Can I pay bills out of my savings account using web bill pay?

No, you cannot use Web Bill Pay to pay bills out of your savings account. You may pay some bills out of your savings account if you provide the company with your account number and routing number. The Federal Regulation, Monetary Reserve and Account Terms, better known as Regulation D, defines various accounts and sets limitations on transfers and withdrawals from certain accounts. Due to this regulation you are only allowed to have three payments to a third party transferred from your savings account in any given month. For more information regarding the limitations on your specific accounts please contact the credit union at 419.422.5626.

17. When will my payments be sent using web bill pay?

It depends on when you set the payments up to pay and whether or not the company you are paying has a relationship with our Web Bill Pay provider, PSCU, and if they can send it electronically or if they must draft a check. PSCU currently has a 100% guarantee that payments submitted for payment on or before the due date will be paid on or before the due date.

18. How do I know that the payment went through using web bill pay?

You may view your bill history within Web Bill Pay. Click on Bill History at the top of the page. Select which view you’d like (ie. Past 30 days, past 60 days, etc.) from the drop down options. You may also select what information you want to see and which biller you are looking for in the additional options box. The bill history will be listed below. To see if the item has cleared your account yet you should look at the account history within your online banking.

19. What’s the phone number for web bill pay support?

The phone number for web bill pay support is 1-888-918-7637.

20. What is Mobile Banking?

Youth Programs

1. What programs do you offer for kids and teens?

In addition to our kids savings accounts and teen checking, Millstream Area Credit Union also offers the Kirby Kangaroo Club for children 12 and younger and the CUSucceed program from teens ages 13-17.

2. How do I sign my child up for the Kirby Kangaroo Club?

Your child is automatically enrolled in the club when they open a kids savings account.

3. What are the benefits of the Kirby Kangaroo Club?

The Kirby Kangaroo Club is designed to teach your child the value of saving. The program includes an interactive website with educational games and stories as well as coloring pages and jokes. Your child will also receive a quarterly newsletter and occasional coupons for free gifts redeemable at Millstream Area Credit Union. 4. How do I sign my teen up for CUSucceed?

All Millstream Area Credit Union members, ages 13-17 are automatically enrolled in the CUSucceed Program. If your teen is not currently a member, fill out an online membership application.

5. What are the benefits of CUSucceed?

CUSucceed provides teens with financial guidance to help prepare them for the financial responsibilities they will soon face. The website includes tips on creating a budget, how to manage a checking account and credit cards, how to protect you from identity theft and planning ahead for college. Your teen will also receive a quarterly newsletter in the mail.
